Over one thousand people gathered outside the State Capitol in Sacramento on May 1, 2020, to protest the ongoing shelter-in-place restrictions in California due to the coronavirus pandemic. Most of them could be seen standing closely together, not wearing masks or face coverings. The protest was part of an effort called “Re-Open California” and many showed support to US President Donald Trump. They later faced off with lines of law enforcement officers in full riot gear who pushed them out of the site. Dozens were arrested during the confrontation.
